The Covid-19 pandemic is a phenomenon that occurred unexpectedly throughout the world. The rapid spread of this virus has made the government issue a policy to implement social distancing / physical distancing, one of which has an impact on the implementation of learning in educational institutions including Special Schools (SLB) educational institutions. This study aims to explain the implementation of distance learning for mentally retarded children at SLB Negeri 01 Jakarta during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method in order to understand the phenomenon that occurs as a whole and can be explained in a description as it is. The results showed that the implementation of distance learning that was applied to mentally retarded children was more dominantly carried out only through the WhatsApp application. This is because there are various kinds of obstacles experienced by teachers, students, and parents during the process of implementing distance learning.
