This research is entitled "improving the learning achievement of Islamic religious education through a collaborative teaching model". In this study the authors used action research which was carried out in 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all students in class VII-F of SMP Negeri 22 Balikpapan. After action is carried out through a collaborative teaching model by creating an atmosphere of active learning, the classroom atmosphere becomes lively, students become enthusiastic about learning and learning achievement increases. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, the Collaboration learning model has a positive impact in increasing student learning achievement which is characterized by an increase in student learning completeness in each cycle, namely cycle I obtained an average score of student learning achievement is 76.11 and learning completion reaches 63.89% or there are 23 students out of 36 students who have completed learning. These results show that in the first cycle classically students have not
completed learning, because students who get a score of 65 are only 63.89% less than the desired percentage of completion of 85%. In the second cycle, the average score of student learning achievement was 77.78 and the completion of learning reached
72.22% or there were 26 students out of 36 students who had completed learning.
Meanwhile, in the third cycle, an average score of 80 was obtained and out of 36 students, 31 students had completed and 5 students had not reached learning completion. So classically the completion of learning that has been achieved is 86.11%.
Collaborative teaching models can make students feel themselves to receive attention and opportunities to express opinions, ideas, ideas and questions. The application of the learning model has a positive influence, which can increase student learning
motivation.
