Abstract

This research is an effort to improve learning outcomes in class IX-F students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan. The main question that will be answered through this research is Can the application of the Card Sort method improve learning outcomes in
class IX-F students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan? To answer this question, this research uses action research in two cycles. The research objective to be obtained is to find out the application of the Card Sort method can improve learning outcomes in class IX-F students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan. From the data analysis it was found that the learning outcomes of class IX-F students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan experienced an increase in each cycle, namely that the average student Islamic education learning
outcomes in cycle I was 73.7 and the average student Islamic education learning outcomes in cycle II of 86.8, this means that student learning outcomes in PAI material during these two cycles have increased by 13 points. The application of the Card Sort
method has an influence on improving learning outcomes in class IX-F students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan, namely the results of students who complete learning in Cycle I are 17 students out of 36 students or 47%, and in Cycle II it increases significantly by
32 students of 36 students or 89% completeness.
