This study aims to describe and examine the Efforts of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Improving Students' Al-Qur'an Reading Ability. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Sources of data were obtained from PAI teachers and students. Collecting data with, observation, interviews and documentation from various sources. Data were analyzed using the interactive qualitative analysis technique of the Miles & Huberman model, including: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the efforts
made by the teacher in improving the ability to read the Koran in students are by holding a program to improve the ability to read the Koran for students which is carried out routinely once a week. This implementation uses the IQRA method by using students who have good Al-Qur'an reading skills as peer tutors to provide
guidance on how to read the Al-Qur'an. The role of the teacher as a guide, supervisor, and evaluator for this activity, also provides training in reading the Qur'an, and giving assignments to read the Qur'an at home. This effort has received support from the school and also from parents or guardians, so that it has a positive
impact on improving students' Al-Qur'an reading abilities at SMP Negeri 3 Manado
