This research was conducted against the background of a mismatch between parental awareness and children's ability to read and write Al-Qur'an in Wasegi Village. What are the factors in parents that affect the ability to read and write the Qur'an and finally, how does the child's interest affect the ability to read and write the Qur'an. With the aim of knowing the influence of awareness and factors in parents and knowing the interests of children that affect the ability to read and write the Qur'an. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, with the research location being Kampung Wasegi, Prafi district, Manokwari district. The research subjects were parents and their children. The data collection procedure was carried out using three methods, namely the observation method, the interview method and the documentation method. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive technique, while the examination and validity of the data are carried out in three ways, namely extension of observation, increasing persistence and triangulation. From the results of the study, it was concluded that parental awareness plays an important role in children's ability to read and write the Qur'an, parental awareness is much influenced by education, age, gender and socioeconomic status. Children's interests are influenced by environmental factors, age and level of education.
